It's cold and he sees his breath. Around him more than a fortnight others bodies stretched out on different bunk beds, covered with heavy blankets, cough. He trembles. He turns in bed and tries to wrap himself up a little more. He feels the wet of the pillow on the cheek. He would like to be home. He remembers when his father gave him a snack: bread and minced meat. He longs for him. He closes his eyes and try to fall asleep.
They have finished dinner. While he is still chewing on the last piece of tangerine, you see him get up from the table, go to the television and press a button. A brief noise and begins to emit lights. Then he sits down on the couch and lights a cigarette. The mother clears the table and goes to the kitchen. Theyt are alone. He gets up and goes to sit down his side, all the time looking at him as he slowly exhales clouds of blue. Juventus plays. He would like to speak, but he knows that even if he hears him, he will not mean any. The two of them sit and watch the game.
It is a bloodline. The same surname that is passed from generation to generation. A slightly aquiline nose and somewhat bigger than normal. An eye shape that it is inherited. An authority role.
I thought this was fatherhood. Learn to say "No", to say "Watch out", "I had told you”,“ You are man now”. Like an actor who knows his role by heart, repeat all those gestures and silences that he had seen for years. But, now, this script does not make sense. Because I am in a world that I had never stepped on. Because I'm on the other side. Because I'm a father now.
Voldria estar a casa. Ho enyora. Tanca els ulls i intenta adormir-se.
Un breu soroll i comença a emetre llums.
